LSI Logic Expands CoreWare Family With Gigabit Ethernet Core for Copper And Fiber Networks
MILPITAS, Calif., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Broadening its current portfolio
of networking communications solutions, LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE: LSI)
today announced the availability of a new Gigabit Ethernet core to its
CoreWare® library.
Designed for use in copper and fiber networks, the E1110
core is a 10/100/1000 BaseT Ethernet media access controller (MAC) solution.
Offered on LSI Logic's G12(TM) 0.18 micron drawn CMOS technology, the E1110
can support applications requiring speeds ranging from 10 to 1000 Megabits per
second (Mbps) on a single platform and is ideal for a variety of embedded
applications including switches, routers, servers and high-performance desktop
computing systems. The multi-speed capability of the E1110 addresses the increasing demand
for Gigabit Ethernet systems while maintaining legacy support for the
10/100 Megabit Ethernet.
The E1110 core has been certified and is ready for
immediate design integration that allows a designer to transition from concept
to production quickly and seamlessly. ``By developing the E1110 core, we are extending our commitment to deliver
low-cost, cutting-edge networking communications solutions that offer
designers multiple system options and enhanced scalability for future network
expansion,'' said Majid Bemanian, vice president of LSI Logic's Networking
Infrastructure Division. ``We understand the requirements of today's networking
devices and are pleased to supply the industry with a 0.18 micron drawn
Gigabit Ethernet core that addresses transmission over both copper and fiber
networks.''
E1110 core Features and Benefits
-- Advanced G12 0.18 micron drawn CMOS technology based hard macro lowers
system cost by providing predictable timing, lower power and high port
density integration
-- A programmable 10/100/1000 data rate option that supports
high-performance large data transfer of Jumbo frames of up to
10,000 Bytes
-- Industry standard compliance with IEEE 802.3x Flow Control and IEEE
802.3z MAC Layer to ensure system compatibility in legacy and future
products
-- Statistic vector support for RMON, which is used for managed switching
solutions
-- Indication based addresses for Multicast, Broadcast and Unicast packets
that support standard conventional traffic, streaming video, movies on
demand, and other multimedia applications
The E1110 core complements LSI Logic's existing CoreWare library, which
includes E110, CAMs, embedded FPGA, high speed I/Os, ARM®, MIPs and ZSP(TM)
based cores.
